In 2022, the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership (ARORP) created the Arkansas Naloxone Bank. Naloxone Community Heroes are organizations that apply for credit to use at the Naloxone Bank to receive naloxone for distribution to families and others in need. Heroes host naloxone trainings and equip every trainee with a free kit of naloxone. Naloxone from the hero program cannot be sold or distributed to first responders.
Naloxone received through this program cannot be sold or disbursed to harm reduction programs for redistribution. First responders, who are eligible to receive naloxone plus training from a program provided by the University of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute, are not eligible to apply for this program.
