13 COPE coalitions receive international training at CADCA Mid-Year
[July 20, Grapevine, TX] On Thursday, July 20, thirteen Arkansas coalitions that have received Coalition Partnership Empowerment (COPE) Funding met at CADCA Mid-Year to receive training on an international stage. CADCA is the premier membership-based non-profit organization representing adult and youth coalition leaders throughout the United States and internationally—all working to make their communities safe, healthy and drug-free. CADCA’s model for community change represents a comprehensive, evidenced-based, multi-sector approach to reduce underage and binge drinking, underage tobacco use, illicit drug use and the misuse of medicines.
The four days were filled with vital training from CADCA’s federal and local partners. Coalition members attended sessions from CDC representatives detailing opioids and xylazine. International researchers shared prevention strategies for kids when their parents have a substance use disorder. There were many sessions on coalition development and applying for the DFC grant.
On Thursday, COPE coalitions met together to discuss their upcoming venture: a three week, personalized training session in Arkansas created by CADCA. In the Arkansas Opioid Training Academy, coalitions will prepare to apply for a DFC grant.
ARORP is proud of this cohort of thirteen coalitions who are doing the work to make change in their communities. For more information about the COPE project, email jspence@arorp.org.
